Remember the Times: Michael Jackson

Until recently, I was truly undecided about whether I could create a blog post regarding Michael Jackson; because honestly, I just wouldn’t know where to start. It feels like I have lost a member of my own family. That may sound ridiculous, but I am one of those lifetime Michael Jackson fans, who grew up with him…with his music and can mark many major moments in my life with a Michael Jackson song.

I remember learning to do the rock while dancing to “Rock with You” in elementary school. As a teen, watching MTV all day, just to see “Thriller”, “Billie Jean” and “Beat It”. From the Jackson 5 to “Off the Wall” to “Invincible”, I sang the songs and danced along. I mean, really…who hasn’t attempted to do the moonwalk or the Thriller dance at least once?

There are many who don’t understand…who don’t relate…who have not been affected in the same way; and I guess I can understand. To be honest, I am actually am quite surprised at my own reaction to his death. I guess that I never realized just how influential his music has been in my life.

I am truly saddened at the loss of such an amazing artist, extraordinary humanitarian and phenomenal entertainer. I will miss you, Michael.
